FRONT ROW?

"Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way."
                        Viktor Frankl
You can choose to live life with the joy of the front row or solemness of the third row!

TAKE A WALK

A ten minute walk can change your outlook, mood and increase your energy level. Cardiologists refer to our thigh muscles as our second heart. The contracting and relaxing of the thigh muscles helps to push the blood back up toward the major organs including the brain. This improved circulation improves oxygenation which improves overall health. I know from my own experience that a simple ten minute walk can change your mood and bring clarity to your thoughts.

GRATITUDE IS GOOD THERAPY!

"When I started counting my blessings, my whole life turned around."
                    Willie Nelson

We've all heard people say we ought to count our blessings. When we think about the things for which we are grateful, that's what we're doing. Taking time to think about the things for which we are grateful, no matter how small they may be, causes those those things to increase and has a tendency to be life changing.

Try an experiment. Start a Gratitude Journal. Every night for a week, take ten minutes and write down ten things for which you are grateful. The next morning, take five minutes and read your entry from the night before. It will surprise you the effect or impact this has on you. Most people continue to keep their Gratitude Journal from that point on.

"Better to lose count while naming your blessings than lose your blessings to counting your trouble."
     Maltbie D. Babcock (1858-1901)

SHIFTING PERSPECTIVE

We do not live our lives according to reality. We live and experience life according to our perception of reality. We experience the world through our five senses. Information is drawn in through the senses and is then represented inside  us - we draw an internal MAP of what is going on outside. It is important to remember that this representation is only a MAP, not reality itself. This MAP is developed from our individual life's experiences.  A MAP of a hill is not the hill.

Three people can witness the same event and have three totally different experiences. To develop greater insight, balance and understanding in our life, we can review interactions with others from different perspectives. If you've been in an argument, relive it in your mind, only this time step inside the other person so you can see and hear YOU through their eyes and ears. Relive it one additional time from outside both you and the other person as if watching the interaction in a movie. This can be very helpful and revealing. This method can be applied to pleasant experiences as well. Shifting Perspective is a simple and effective way of enriching your life. Try it!

I RECOMMEND ... QUIT!

There is so much of our internal dialogue or self-talk that exists in the form of questions. Our subconscious mind responds most powerfully to questions. It  always answers or responds to questions, not necessarily right away, but will respond resulting in feelings, thoughts and behaviors. It is the questions we ask ourselves that activates the subconscious and determines the direction of our thinking, emotions and our ultimate behaviors. There are countless books, articles and videos available now teaching various forms of 'self-talk' and 'affirmations' that address this critical mental technology of asking questions. Our subconscious mind serves us perfectly by giving us powerful answers to the questions we ask ourselves. If we ask ourselves why we are not successful or why we always fail, it will give us volumes of reasons and also ensure that we continue to live and think in such a way to validate the premise of that question. If we change the question to 'How can I succeed?' or 'How have I become so successful?' or 'What do I need to do to ...?' it will give us volumes of reasons, information and guidance on that direction as well. These new technologies are worth investigating. When we understand the power of questions to unlock the potential within us and redirect our subconscious mind, if applied, we can literally transform our lives. I recommend ... QUIT!

THE UNIVERSE WITHIN

We live in an amazing universe. There is constantly being discovered new stars, planets, and galaxies. Within us we have a universe just as amazing. Like astronomers that sit quietly peering through a telescope to better understand  the power and wonders of outer space, we can sit quietly and peer, sense, feel and experience inner space. There is so much more to you and I, and a few quiet moments each day could result in monumental discoveries for ourselves.
